Color Difference Control and Surface Quality Management of Aluminum Veneer Curtain Wall

Color difference, panel scratches, particles, sagging, and unevenness are the most common quality defects of aluminum veneer curtain walls, which are very easy to cause acceptance disputes and rework. It must be strictly controlled in the whole process from raw materials → production and spraying → factory pre-assembly → on-site installation.

Causes of Curtain Wall Color Difference

1. Inconsistent material and roughness of aluminum alloy base materials from different batches;
2. Slight deviation of paint color number and raw materials of different batches;
3. Unstable spraying thickness, baking temperature and furnace temperature;
4. Inconsistent production processes in multiple workshops and by multiple teams;
5. Separate production of later supplementary panels cannot match the original color;
6. Reversed installation direction of on-site panels, resulting in visual color difference due to light reflection.

Whole-Process Color Difference Control Standards

1. For the same project, unify the base material and paint of the same batch, and prepare all materials at one time;
2. The whole project is produced continuously by the same spraying line and the same team;
3. Retain tripartite standard color panels, and the color difference ΔE ≤ 1.5 NBS unit is regarded as qualified;
4. Overall typesetting and pre-assembly under natural light in the factory, unqualified products will not leave the factory;
5. Mark the orientation and floor number on the panels, and install them in order and direction;
6. For later supplementary parts, retrieve the original process parameters, and replicate the production in the same furnace and same environment.

Panel Surface Quality Management

1. The panel surface is flat without warping, the bending line is straight, and the weld seam is polished smoothly without traces;
2. The coating is free of particles, sagging, pinholes, scratches and bump damage;
3. The coating adhesion and impact resistance meet the standard, no falling off or cracking;
4. Full film protection before delivery, reinforced by wooden frame during transportation to prevent scratches;
5. Cross welding and cutting operations on the installed panels are prohibited on site to avoid panel damage;
6. Tear off the protective film uniformly before the completion acceptance, and do a good job in finished product protection.
