Zhongchuang Achieves 100% Closed-Loop Recycling for Aluminum Ceiling Tiles, Leading Circular Economy in Construction

Guangdong Zhongchuang Building Decoration Materials Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its industry-leading Aluminum Circular Economy Program, becoming the first manufacturer in the world to achieve 100% closed-loop recycling for aluminum ceiling tiles.

Under the program, Zhongchuang will take back used aluminum ceiling tiles from any manufacturer at the end of their service life, process them in its state-of-the-art recycling facility, and use 100% of the recovered aluminum to produce new ceiling tiles. The process requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminum, resulting in a 95% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional manufacturing .

Zero-Waste Manufacturing Process

Zhongchuang's recycling process is designed to eliminate waste at every stage:

• Take-back service: Free collection of old ceiling tiles from demolition and renovation sites worldwide
• Sorting and separation: Advanced automated systems separate aluminum from other materials with 99.9% accuracy
• Closed-loop smelting: Recovered aluminum is melted and cast into new billets without any material loss
• New product manufacturing: Recycled billets are used to produce identical high-quality ceiling tiles

All new ceiling tiles produced under the program contain a minimum of 85% post-consumer recycled aluminum, with options for 100% recycled content available for projects seeking the highest sustainability credentials. The recycled aluminum maintains the same strength, durability and performance as primary aluminum .

Environmental Impact and Certification

Each ton of recycled aluminum ceiling tiles saves:

• 9 tons of CO₂ emissions
• 14,000 kWh of electricity
• 40 cubic meters of water
