Processing Technology and Quality Control Points of Perforated Aluminum Panels
The processing of perforated aluminum panels is a multi-process, high-precision production process, and the quality control of every link directly affects the quality of the final product. From raw material incoming inspection, to perforation processing, bending forming, welding reinforcement, surface treatment, spraying and baking, to finished product inspection and packaging delivery, each process has its key quality control points. For building decorative materials, the quality of perforated aluminum panels is not only related to the aesthetics of the decorative effect, but also related to the convenience of installation, structural safety and service durability. This article will systematically explain the complete processing process of perforated aluminum panels from raw materials to finished products, as well as the quality control points of each process, helping purchasers and engineering personnel understand the product production process and better conduct quality acceptance and supplier evaluation.
Raw material inspection is the first checkpoint of quality control. The main raw materials for perforated aluminum panels include aluminum alloy sheets, surface coatings, reinforcing ribs, auxiliary materials, etc. When aluminum alloy sheets enter the factory, first check the material certification documents to confirm that the grade, temper and thickness meet the order requirements. Commonly used aluminum plate grades are 3003, 5005, etc., and the temper is usually H14 or O. The deviation of sheet thickness must be within the allowable range of the standard. Too thick will increase cost and weight, and too thin will affect structural strength. The sheet surface should be smooth and flat, without obvious scratches, pits, oxidation spots, color difference and other defects. The flatness of the sheet is also very important, especially for large-size sheets, warping and deformation will bring great trouble to subsequent processing and installation. For surface treatment coatings, check the color, batch, quality certificate for powder coating, and check the model, color, performance report for fluorocarbon coating. Reinforcing ribs usually adopt galvanized channel steel or aluminum alloy profiles, and their specifications and anti-corrosion treatment must also meet the requirements. All raw materials must pass inspection before being put into production, and unqualified raw materials must not be used, ensuring product quality from the source.
Perforation processing is one of the core processes in perforated aluminum panel production. The perforation quality directly determines the decorative effect and acoustic performance of the product. Perforation processing mainly has two processes: CNC stamping and laser cutting. The CNC stamping process uses special perforating dies for processing on CNC punching machines. This process is characterized by high efficiency, low cost, and suitable for mass production of standard hole types. However, the stamping process is limited by the die, and the changes in hole type and hole spacing are relatively inflexible. The quality control points of perforation processing include: The first is hole diameter accuracy: the hole diameter must meet the design requirements, and the deviation is controlled within the standard range. For small hole diameter perforation, special attention should be paid to whether there are connected holes, missed punches, deformations and other problems. The second is hole spacing accuracy: the distance between holes must be uniform and consistent, arranged neatly. Excessive deviation in hole spacing directly affects the decorative effect. The third is burr control: after stamping, there should be no obvious burrs and flanging at the hole edges. Excessive burrs not only affect the appearance, but also scratch construction personnel. For projects with high requirements, a deburring process needs to be added. The fourth is plate shape control: after perforation, the plate may deform due to stress release, especially for large-area, high-perforation-rate plates, the deformation will be more obvious. In production, it is necessary to control the plate shape through reasonable perforation sequence and increasing the leveling process. The laser cutting process uses a laser beam for non-contact cutting. Its advantages are no tool wear, flexible hole types, high precision, suitable for complex patterns and small batch production. The quality control points of laser cutting include: smooth cutting surface without slag, high hole diameter accuracy, small heat affected zone, no obvious deformation. No matter which perforation process is used, it is necessary to inspect after the first piece is processed, and confirm that the hole diameter, hole spacing, and arrangement method conform to the design drawings before mass production.
Bending forming is the process of processing a flat aluminum plate into a certain shape and size, including edge folding, curling, bending angle and other processes. Perforated aluminum panels usually need to be folded around the perimeter to increase the rigidity and installation edges of the panel. The folded edge height is generally 20-25mm. The quality control points of bending forming include: The first is dimensional accuracy: the overall dimensions and diagonal deviations after bending must be within the allowable range. Excessive dimensional deviation will cause the panels to fail to align on site during installation, affecting the overall decorative effect. The second is bending angle: the bending angle must be accurate and consistent, and the 90-degree bend cannot have excessive angle deviation, otherwise it will affect the installation flatness. The third is edge straightness: the bent edges must be straight, without bending and wave deformation. Non-straight edges will cause uneven panel gaps after installation. The fourth is hole position at folded edges: the hole positions (installation holes or hanging holes) at the folded edges must be accurate, with uniform spacing and consistent edge distance. Deviation in installation holes will make on-site installation impossible. For irregular plates and curved plates, forming is more difficult and requires special bending dies or roll bending equipment. The curvature of the curved plate must be uniform and consistent, without local sudden changes or distortions. The formed plate should be dimensionally inspected before entering the next process.
Surface treatment is a key process that determines the appearance quality and weather resistance of perforated aluminum panels. Before surface treatment, pre-treatment is required, including degreasing, rust removal, phosphating (or chromizing), etc., to ensure that the aluminum plate surface is clean and rough, so that the coating can adhere firmly. The quality of pre-treatment directly affects the adhesion of the coating. Poor pre-treatment will cause problems such as coating peeling and blistering. The quality control points of the spraying process include: The first is coating thickness: the coating thickness must be uniform and meet the design and standard requirements. Insufficient thickness will affect weather resistance, and excessive thickness will affect appearance and adhesion. The second is coating color: the color must be consistent with the confirmed color board, without obvious color difference. Special attention should be paid to color difference control for products produced in different batches. The third is coating appearance: the coating surface should be smooth and uniform, without sagging, orange peel, particles, missing spraying, scratches and other defects. The fourth is coating adhesion: the coating must be firmly combined with the aluminum substrate, and there should be no peeling when tested by the cross-cut method. The fifth is baking process: the baking temperature and time must be strictly executed according to the coating requirements. Insufficient temperature or time will lead to incomplete coating curing and affect performance. After surface treatment, appearance inspection, thickness measurement, color difference detection, adhesion testing, etc. should be carried out, and the product can be put into storage after passing. For special processes such as wood grain transfer, it is also necessary to check the clarity, realism, adhesion and other indicators of the wood grain pattern.
Finished product inspection and packaging delivery are the last quality checkpoints before product delivery. The contents of finished product inspection include: checking whether the product model, specification, quantity are consistent with the order; checking surface quality, whether there are scratches, deformation, color difference, coating defects, etc.; checking perforation quality, whether there are missed punches, wrong punches, burrs, etc.; checking whether the dimensions of folded edges and installation holes are accurate; checking whether the reinforcing ribs are firm. Qualified products need to be properly packaged to ensure that the products are not damaged during transportation and installation. Packaging usually uses pearl cotton, bubble film, corner protectors, cartons or wooden boxes and other materials. Each plate is separated with soft materials to prevent friction and scratches. The four corners should be protected with corner protectors to prevent corner bumps. The packaging should be marked with product model, specification, quantity, project name, etc., to facilitate on-site counting. For long-distance transportation and ocean export, stronger wooden box packaging is required, and moisture-proof and rain-proof treatment should be done. When the product leaves the factory, technical documents such as product certificate, quality guarantee, and inspection report should also be attached to ensure product traceability. Strict finished product inspection and packaging are the last guarantee to ensure that customers receive qualified products, and are also a manifestation of the manufacturer's quality reputation. Through the whole process quality control from raw materials to finished products, high-quality perforated aluminum panel products can be produced to meet the quality requirements of architectural decoration projects.
