Pre-Installation Preparation

 

Good preparation prevents 80% of common installation issues:

  1. Site condition check: All above-ceiling MEP works (pipes, ducts, wiring, sprinklers) must be complete and pressure tested. Floor finishing should be done, and indoor humidity should be below 80% to avoid material warping.
  2. Material inspection: Check all grid profiles, keels, hangers and accessories for damage, bending or color difference. Sort materials by size and color before installation.

1. Setting Out & Marking

  • Use a laser level to mark the finished ceiling elevation line on all walls, columns and around the room perimeter.
  • Mark the main keel layout line on the ceiling slab, with standard hanger spacing at 1000-1200mm intervals.
  • Mark grid center lines according to the approved layout, starting from the center of the room and working outwards to ensure symmetrical border panels.


2. Install Hanger Rods

  • Drill holes for expansion bolts at marked hanger points, minimum embedment depth 40mm into concrete slab.
  • Install galvanized steel hanger rods (minimum diameter 6mm). For ceilings over 3m high or heavy duty systems use 8mm rods.

  • Interlock main and cross bars to form square cells, checking that all joints are fully seated.
  • Measure diagonal of each grid unit to ensure squareness; diagonal error must not exceed 1mm per meter.


6. Install Grid Panels

  • Lift pre-assembled grid units up to the keel system and clip into place, starting from the center of the room and working outwards.
  • As you install, pull a long straight edge across the ceiling to check flatness, adjusting hanger height as needed.
  • Do not force or bend grid bars into place; if a bar does not fit, check keel alignment first.


7. Fit Borders & Openings

  • Cut border panels to fit around walls, columns and penetrations, using tin snips or a fine tooth saw.
  • Fit custom trim around light fixtures, air diffusers, sprinklers and access panels, ensuring clean straight edges.
  • All cut edges should be touched up with matching paint to prevent corrosion.

8. Final Cleaning & Protection

  • Peel off protective film from all grid profiles.
  • Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth to remove fingerprints and dust.
